Trey Gerrald is an American television, film, and stage actor — with a love of character, comedy, and connecting with an audience.
On screen.
Trey’s television work includes Étoile and recurring roles on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, Hulu’s Deadbeat, and NBC’s Next Caller opposite Dane Cook and Jeffrey Tambor.
Additional appearances include You’re the Worst, Teenage Bounty Hunters, The Carrie Diaries, The Comedy Get Down, Younger, Nightcap, Public Morals, Little America, and the unaired NBC pilot that became Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Pilot work has also brought opportunities to collaborate with Lisa Kudrow, Lee Daniels, and Whitney Cummings.
His film credits include Women Like Us, Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, Todd Solondz’s Wiener-Dog, Mikhaël Hers’s Ce sentiment de l’été (That Summer Feeling), Fourth Man Out, Carefree, The Way Out, and Grind.
On stage.
Trey has played Dennis/Perkins in The Play That Goes Wrong, seven characters in Barbra Streisand’s basement in Jon Tolins’s one-person play Buyer & Cellar, and Natasha — in six-inch heels — in the American premiere of With Bells On.
Other stage work includes It’s Only a Play, Mothers & Sons, Next Fall, Do Me a Little, Way to Heaven, Cabaret, and Sunset Boulevard with Stefanie Powers.
Behind the scenes.
Trey has worked as an assistant stage manager on the national tour of Billy Elliot, as assistant to Cameron Mackintosh’s directing team for the 25th Anniversary tour of Les Misérables, and in company management for the national tours of Beauty and the Beast and The Drowsy Chaperone.
He holds a BA in Acting from Coastal Carolina University, where he received six Irene Ryan Acting nominations in four years through the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. He is also a graduate of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association.
